QUIET...

Christmas is over, whew! Had my precious grandson, Justin, over for 2 days. He went home today. I'm sitting here alone, listening to Mary Black and others. Breathing deep. Sage smudged the house earlier. The sky is starting to get gray and overcast. I love it. A storms a brewing. All is well. Starting to put some of the christmas stuff away. Time to contemplate, turn inward and soul search. I love the winter with the bare trees, and the quiet.

Christmas Eve

Well it is Christmas Eve! I am alone in the house that I share with my sister and niece. It has snowed here on Cape Cod quite a bit in past week. Snow is magical! So it looks like we will have a white Christmas. I baked Rosemary cookies today. Put a whole stick of butter in instead of 3/4 so they are a little too chrunchy but taste good all the same. The lights are all glowing and its so quiet. I am surely enjoying myself. Merry Christmas to all.

Recipe for Rosemary Cookies:

3/4 cup of butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
2 tsp. ground dried rosemary
13/4 sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
Preheat oven to 325 Cream together butter and sugar. Add egg and molasses. Stir in remaining ingredients. Mix well. Drop by scant teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes.
